A map won't import or looks wrong

Why a PDF map might be refused or appear in the wrong place, and how to fix it, from georeferencing to choosing another map frame.

  • "No georeferenced map was found": the PDF doesn't contain location information. Export it again from QGIS or ArcGIS Pro as a geospatial (georeferenced) PDF.
  • The map sits in the wrong place: see Fix a map that sits in the wrong place.
  • Preparation failed or stopped: open More → Maps library and tap Prepare again on the map's card. Large maps need some free space on the phone.
  • A GIS layer is refused: its coordinate system isn't recognised. See Import GIS data.
