Record trees, plants and vegetation

Record a single tree, a group of plants with a count, or an area of vegetation such as bracken or rhododendron, with species, condition and photos.

  1. On Map, tap Add to map.
  2. Under Tree, plant or vegetation, choose how to record it:
    • Individual: one specimen with its own reference, such as a single tree.
    • Group observation: several similar specimens at one point, with an exact or estimated count.
    • Vegetation area: a boundary drawn around a population, patch or zone.
  3. Tap the category, for example Fallen tree, Dangerous or unstable tree, Invasive shrub species or Bracken.
  4. Place it at the crosshair or your GPS position (or draw the area), and tap Finish.
  5. Fill in the species and condition. Tap More details for measurements, management, clearance and photos.
  6. Tap Save. A permanent reference is assigned.

Recording lots of single trees? Turn on Quick add at my GPS position: one tap on a category saves it where you stand, and you can add details later.

Only record invasive or protected status from a verified source.

Find everything you've recorded in Records → Records → Vegetation, with filters such as Marked for felling and Clearance required.
