Link trees to a job and mark them felled

Give a felling job the trees on the site's map; the crew marks each tree felled as they go, even with no signal, and the map shows what's done.

A manager can link a job to features on one of the project's map layers, for example a layer of the trees to fell. The crew then marks each tree as they fell it, and the map shows what's done.

Link the trees (owners and managers, on the dashboard)

  1. Share the layer of trees with the project first: in the project's Edit project, or publish it from the web GIS or Desktop GIS.
  2. Open the job and choose More → Link map features.
  3. Pick the Map layer and what to Name each feature by (for example the tree number).
  4. Everything is chosen at first. Click trees on the map, or tick them in the list, to choose only some. None clears the choice.
  5. Click Save.

Mark trees felled (the crew, in the app or on the dashboard)

  1. Take the job, or join it if several people work on it.
  2. On the job's page, the trees are listed under the layer's name. Tap Nearest to me first to sort them by distance.
  3. Tap Felled beside each tree as you fell it. A mistake? Tap Undo.

With no signal, each tree is kept on the phone (it says waiting to send) and sent when there's a signal. The job's progress follows the trees.

When the job is completed

Work completed marks any trees not yet marked. The layer itself then gets each tree's status (job_status, done_by, done_at), so the GIS and exports show it. On the team's map, felled trees are grey and the rest orange.

Tip: members can also correct the layer itself in the web or Desktop GIS and publish their changes. Adding new layers stays with owners and managers.
